After a major health challenge, it’s easy to feel disconnected—from your body, your energy, and even your sense of self. And with all the wellness advice circulating out there, it can feel overwhelming to know where to start.
Simple, time-proven practices is always a good starting place. I’m sharing six time-proven holistic strategies to feel better naturally—physically, emotionally, and mentally. These are not quick fixes or trends, but simple holistic health practices that support real healing.

Nourish Your Body
Start by adding just one extra serving of vegetables per day. You don’t have to overhaul your whole diet. Think how you can incorporate even a 1/2 cup of veggies to comfort food: toss some broccoli into your mac and cheese, add shredded carrot to rice, or sneak spinach or carrot into a smoothie. Small shifts do count.
Also take a look at reducing processed foods. Try choosing foods with fewer ingredients—ideally five or less—and ones you can recognize. Your body knows what to do with real food.
And of course, drink more water. Add lemon, lime, or a splash of tart cherry to make it more enjoyable. The key is: what will actually help you drink more water consistently? I personally love those bubbles and fizz in soda water.
Move in a Way That Supports You
Ask yourself, “What kind of movement supports my body *today*?” It might be gentle stretching, Yoga Nidra, or a walk outside. Or maybe it’s something more energetic like a high-intensity interval training. Or perhaps you are needing to tap into your power with some strength training. Tune in to your body and move accordingly.
Rest and Reconnect
Prioritize rest and quality sleep. Your body does vital healing work while you sleep. One way to improve sleep? Natural light—get outside first thing in the morning, or turn on all your lights if you’re indoors.
Even short moments of mindfulness (as little as 5 minutes) can calm your nervous system and set the tone for a better night’s rest. And don’t forget—movement also supports better sleep.
Express and Create
Don’t underestimate the healing power of creativity for it's impact on holistic health. Start small. Make “bad” art, journal, try a new recipe—just let yourself play without judging the outcome. Engaging your creative side helps you reconnect with joy and self-expression.
Connect with Others
Engage with community. Find your people. Reach out to a friend. Join a support group. Smile at a stranger. Connection doesn’t have to be big or bold—it just has to be intentional. Let your “weird light” shine so your people can find you.
Protect Your Peace
Boundaries are not just external—they’re also internal. Ask: is this activity or relationship supporting my healing or depleting me? Protect your time, your energy, and your priorities. You can give more to others when your own cup is full.
